Welcome to my first blog !
Hello to everybody!
This is my first blog ever. Fine way for me to show my art and my own opinion here.
I am in the underground art from 1983. I was a member of underground art organization called NAPIEG , which was free association of artists in former Yugoslavia /1983 - approximately it lasted until 1986/ At same time, I was the editor of "Instant gladna igra X" fanzine, which was about underground rock music /mainly punk, and then so called >alternative
I was permanent contributor to almost all important underground music fanzine in that time /from 1983 to 1993/ I was also the editor od "Agonia perpetua" fanzine, and of "Phantom" fanzine.
Last issue of "Phantom" I delivered in early 1993, and then I stopped, but I continue to participate in numerous fanzine /in former Yugoslavia, but also in Europe and in USA/
Somewhere in 1990. I started to particiapte in various MAIL ART projects, with my collages, drawings , other works in various mixed techniques, and sometimes with my paintings.
I made around 1300 various collages in usual postcard size, and around 1000 of original works in the form of "Artist trading card" and all of these I had sent to various artist /and sometimes to my pen-pals/ around the world.
I would like to mention that I was doing many drawings before 1983, but I never heard for MAIL ART before 1987 /or was it 1988?/ I saw collages and rubber stamps by Dobrica Kamperelic in some youth magazine. Ofcourse, I realized that all of that was just sampled by him, but yet it was very interesting to me. Previously, I called my art "punk art" because, I was a big fan of punk rock music, and I wrote some lyrics for some bands, and used to make many illustrations and sometimes even design for some other fanzines.
After I saw address of Kamperelic, I have sent him one letter with my artworks, but at that time, I received no answer from him. Several years later, I asked him if he received my letter, but he was not sure about that.
I started to participate in many projects, and one of first was my contribution to Pascal Lenoir zine "MANI ART" and I used to have many contacts in France, Italy and UK.
Here will be the end of the first part of my mail art history.
